Privacy Policy
Last updated: 3 July 2026
This policy explains what data Areel (areel.io) collects, why we collect it, and the choices you have. Areel is a SaaS platform that delivers curated clip sets to short-form video creators. We collect the minimum we need to run the service.
1. Data we collect
- Account data — your email address, a securely hashed password (we never store your password in plain text), your timezone, and your plan/tier.
- Service data — the clip sets and videos generated for your account, delivery history, and usage needed to enforce daily allowances.
- Billing data — your plan, transaction references, amounts, and subscription status received from our payment provider. We never see or store your card number; payment details are handled entirely by the payment provider on their systems.
- Technical data — standard server logs (such as IP address and request metadata) used for security, rate limiting, and debugging.
2. How we use your data
- to provide the service: generate and deliver your clip sets, enforce plan allowances, and operate your account;
- to process subscriptions: activate paid access when our payment provider confirms a payment, and manage renewals and cancellations;
- to communicate with you about your account (for example password resets and important service notices);
- to keep the service secure, prevent abuse, and debug problems.
We do not sell your personal data.
3. Payment processing
Payments are processed by a third-party payment provider. When you subscribe, you provide your payment details directly to that provider on their hosted checkout; the provider then notifies our systems that a payment succeeded so we can activate your access. We store the resulting transaction references and subscription status, not your card details. The provider processes your data under its own privacy policy.
4. Cookies and browser storage
Areel uses essential browser storage (localStorage) to keep you signed in. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party advertising trackers on areel.io. Our hosting and payment providers may set strictly necessary cookies on their own domains as part of delivering their services.
5. Referrals and the Creator Partner Program
- Referral links. When you open a creator's referral link, we set a first-party, HttpOnly cookie holding an opaque referral reference (valid for about 30 days) so a later signup or subscription can be credited to that creator. It contains no personal data, and you can remove an applied code from the pricing page before subscribing.
- What creators can see. Creators never see your personal details — only an anonymous reference, a masked email (for example a***@example.com), and the status of the referral.
- Anti-abuse signals. To detect self-referrals and abuse we store short-lived keyed hashes derived from network and browser information — never the raw values. Hashes expire automatically (about 90 days) and are only ever reviewed by a human; they never trigger automatic penalties.
- Creator (partner) data. If you join the partner program we additionally process your application details and a PayPal payout email, which is stored encrypted and must be confirmed by email before any payout. Commission and payout records are retained for accounting and audit purposes. The program has its own terms.
6. Service providers
We use a small number of infrastructure providers to run Areel — application hosting, file storage and delivery, transactional email, and payment processing. These providers process data on our behalf only as needed to provide their services.
7. Data retention
We keep your account and service data while your account is active. Billing and transaction records are kept as long as needed for accounting, audit, and legal obligations. If you ask us to delete your account, we delete or anonymise personal data that we are not legally required to retain.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at support@areel.io from the email address on your account, and we will respond within a reasonable time. You can also change your password and manage your subscription directly from your account pages.
9. Security
We take reasonable technical measures to protect your data, including hashed passwords, token-based authentication, encrypted connections (HTTPS), and verified payment notifications. No system is perfectly secure; if we become aware of a breach affecting your personal data we will notify you as required by law.
10. Children
Areel is not directed at children and is intended for users who are at least 18 years old. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date, and significant changes will be communicated where reasonably practicable.
